I don't know exactly how long they have not been working, but the brake lights on my Nissan Frontier 2007 have stopped working. All other lights work fine. Even one out of the three brake lights works when the pedal is pressed. So question is if 1/3 brake lights work, then is it a fuse problem, bulb problem or short. I'm hoping it's not a short. And to clarify a little the 3rd light I'm speaking of is a light above the rear window. It acts as a brake/rear lights or as a rear lamp. If it's a fuse or bulb problem, then why is it that one works but the two main ones don't. And will one burnt out bulb cause them all to not work. I've checked all visible wiring so I'm not so sure it's a short. If chances are it's a short then how do I go about testing the wires to find out where the short is located and how to fix. I'm not really auto tech savvy or electrical savvy so any detailed help, questions, etc would be appreciated. We're not as financially stable as we'd like to be, so I'm hoping to find answers here or a DIY fix and avoid sending it to a shop for a hefty bill. Thanks for any suggestions or answers. Please let me know if a post like this has already been posted or if there's any other questions you'd like answered to help.

How about starting with replacing the bulbs and quit
worrying, be happy. Unless you have a multi meter and know
where the fuses are located, it would be best to start with
the bulbs.

I do have a multimeter and have read about pulling out fuses and checking them, however i'm not sure which fuse it is.  And as a correction to my post, it is ALL brake lights are not working. My daughter was checking the lights for me and I'm not sure why, but she said that the one above the window turns on but the other two don't. I later recorded on my phone me testing the lights and it appears that none of the brake lights are working. So that's what I got now. There's only one main bulb that is used for tail lights and brake lights.( I guess when the tail lights are on they get brighter when the brake is pressed. )And the tail lights work fine, so wouldn't that mean that it's not a bulb issue. Or is there something else that may be blown inside the bulb? Just wondering.

I think those bulbs have two filamants so I agree with Frontier guy.  Buy to bulbs and put them in and see what happens.

And isn't there a diagram of the fuse box in the owner's manual?

Well, I found the problem. Apparently there's a second fuse box that I didn't know even existed in the glove department. ( Who's the genius that decided to put a fuse box in a glove department?) Anyways, low and behold there is the culprit. The brake fuse. Sure enough it was blown. Replaced it and all is well. Thankyou though to those that offered suggestions or ideas. Sure helps build my knowledge of things about my truck. I appreciate the answers.
