Help please.

My goal: To make my truck look bigger

Tires & Rims
What size rim/tire do you recommend I put on my truck to make it a bit taller?  I was thinking 18 inch rims.  I do not want to have to adjust anything, just be able to change them out.  I do go over crubs all the time and light off roading (mud/sand), but mostly city driving.

Roof rack
My truck currently does not have a roof rack.  What do you guys think of that?  I might have the occasional latter to move around for construction purposes.

Any other ideas would be great!

Thanks guys!

You pretty much hit all the things. You can go with either
a mild lift kit or a body lift. I really don't recommend
the body lift however.]

You could go with some slight oversize tires, giving you
some height and width, then get some fender flares to even
the look.

If you don't want to use a lift kit or body lift, I'd say
get some wider tires/rims and fender flare.

..

If you are going off road you need the flex of the tires sidewalls and some times the ability to air down for traction and float in sand. 15 or 16 inch wheels that will clear the brake calipers with the largest tire that will clear your new lift job.

The departure angle at the rear of pick up trucks is a problem. They need more lift in the rear due to the over hang than the front. I lifted more in the rear and I removed the rear bumper for added clearance.

Good luck.. Don S..

kcidmill - thanks! I'm new to this so can you give me more details on what a mild lift is, where should i take my truck to have it done, and how much would it cost?

laktoa- I mostly go over curbs when stuck in traffic. I would hate to lose the rear bumper cause I like the way it looks. Thanks for the tips on the tires.

Front11- how did you put a 2'' bump in the front? Can you explain the process?  Do you have a pic of the rim style?

Thanks guys!!!

4x4parts.com offers a 2" lift kit, this will give you
some clearance to fit some larger tires. They're just
spacers so it won't effect your handling other than
making you slightly more top heavy, but going over curves
won't be a problem.

They also offer a 2" body lift that's a little bit
cheaper, however I'm not a huge fan of body lifts. While
it does keep your frame lower to the ground but give you
clearance for larger tires, it tends to mess with the
ride quality.

as for getting it done if you know a decent mechanic shop
in town they can do it, or find a offroad specialist.
4wheelparts.com has a bunch of stores in Texas.

... seriously thinking about removing my stock rack ('12 Pro-4x).  This may give you a "taller" appearance.  Any interest??  Thanx.  //d
