..

The amount of lift will depend on the amount of pressure in the shocks. That pressure should be listed somewhere. I bought a set of Monroe Magum Gasmatic (200lbs each pressure) for my Full size 401 V-8 Wagoneer (5,000 lbs stripped and empty) and barely noticed the lift. You would think that would be like removing 400 lbs off the front end and there by create some lift. The front shocks are very short on the front of the early 4x4 Frontiers. The Monroes for the front of Frontiers are not very strong.

I cranked the bars 5/8th inch and put lift blocks in the rear to fit BFG 31x10.50x 15s on my '99 4x4.

Good luck.. Don S..

Now by bars, are you taking about the your rod that is
threaded on each end and goes from the back of the wheel
up to the a arm. I'm sorry I'm not describing it very well this
will be my first time trying to lift a nissan. I'm just looking to
fit bigger tires for more ground clearance.

Thanks a lot. .

Shocks should NEVER be used as a weight bearing device in a suspension.  They are there to absorb and dampen the vertical m otion of the axle, period.  Use suspension components likes springs, blocks, etc to obtain lift!

Sorry but should or shouldn't realy doesn't matter. The Heavy Duty gas shocks lifted (I didn't buy them for that purpose) my '76 Wagoneer about a half an inch for the 15 or so years they were on it. That is the way it is. They come compressed with a tie strap and if you release it you will have some real fun trying to compress it back so you can mount it... Been there... done that!

taterbOb;

The early Frontiers have torsion bars instead of coil or leaf srings in the front suspension. There are nuts at the rear of the bar that can raise or lower the front of the truck. When the bars are adjusted the front end wheel alighnment should be checked on a machine. I raised mine 5/8th inch out of a posible 3 inches.

Have a good one.. Don S..

I thought Rancho had some 9000 series shocks that lifted, like maybe an 1" to 2".
