I was told today by a worker at Autozone that the K&N filters dont do MUCH  to increase horse power. He claims to be an x drag racer...do these things really work or what??

I installed the K&N complete intake kit on my 06 Frontier SE 4.0L 6speed about four years ago. I didn't do a before and after dyno but, I picked up 1 to 2 miles per gallon and it feels like I have better throttle response. I have never really seen that much of a difference on just replacing the stock filter with a K&N personally. But, it is nice to wash and re-oil every 15k rather than buying new filters. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response...I have been getting mixed reviews. I have a supercharged frontier so that being the case I wasn't sure if changing the filter would make much of a difference anyway...

Read bobistheoilguy.com.  Many on there have removed them as too much junk passes through and ends up in the oil as evidenced by high silicone in UOAs (sand).  Paper is your best bet.  With the clamor on for better mileage and longevity with car manufacturers, if these were good they would be put on at the factory!
