Frontyfan,
I had both an aftermarket CAI (AirAid) and Exhaust (Banks), but recenly removed the exhaust. I removed it due to it being louder than I personally wanted, no other reason. I did notice a loss of low end grunt, which has returned since putting the stock exhaust back on the truck. But, I have also noticed a drop in my gas mileage as well! As far as burnt valves, I have only heard of this being a problem if you were to run the engine with no headers or exhaust manifolds on the engine. Honestly, you could probably remove the stock exhaust completely, leaving the OEM exhaust manifold and CATS in place and not worry about burning the valves!
Can you post a link to the Custom Tubes Products Website? I'm interesting in see what they have to offer. I'm considering finding a custom pipe shop that can fabricate a new head pipe and "Y" assembly for my stock exhaust to replace the restrictive stock "Y" pipe, which really looks to be the biggest choke point in the whole stock exhaust setup! Thanks...
