Hey guys...I was just wondering if anyone with an FIPK has had this happen or has heard of it. The FIPK on my 05 NISMO Crew has about 40K on it and during one of my frequent, under-hood checks, I noticed that the wiring bracket that was the load-bearing member of the install had completely SHEARED! I have always been a little weary of the way this thing designed, just based on one bolt/bracket having to support almost the entire weight of the breather element and tube...much less having to endure so much vibration (and I don't even take this truck off-road). Sure enough...Kaput.
I called K&N and someone in their engineering department is supposed to get back with me Monday. I had to special order the replacement bracket from Nissan, as no Nissan stores in the Baton Rouge area had it in stock. Needless to say, had this not be caught when it was, it could have been HUGE problems.
Attached are photos of the sheared bracket...the photo of the wheel-well damage was too big to upload...but, apparently the tire well was damaged by the breather element banging in to the wheel well. Needless to say, the breather element is damaged...so I omitted that picture.
If anyone has any experience with this, or has heard anything of it...by all means post, or shoot me an email.
