I have recently purchased a 2006 Nissan Frontier XE with a little over 23K in mileage. I already switched to a semi-synthetic oil, changed the air filter and still only getting about 23 MPG. I watched online and found a module to add both HP & MPG. I am supposed to find the Intake Air Temperature Sensor, disconnect the 2 wire plug and connect the module in the female parts of the plug. I think I found the sensor on the very top of the motor above the intake manifold with hoses going out of it on both sides. The vehicle is still under warranty,........what's my problem?........Not sure if I found the right part, and just a little scared at this point of screwing things up on my newly purchased vehicle. Any ideas? I'm a 30 year vehicle & jet engine mechanic and I know that this vehicle must get better gas mileage than just 23 MPG. The installation requires me to disconnect the battery first before connecting the module and states that I may get a service engine soon light if it is not correctly installed securely. I am really just concerned about the location of the IAT sensor and if this could do worse than help.

lorydr96;
Well if that's a 4 banger that's good mileage. If that's a v-6 that's very good mileage. Believe I'd forget the mod for now and keep the warranttee.
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
Laws such as the use of corn ethanol are driving up the cost of living (have you been to the grocery store lately) without driving up wages. This equates to a lower standard of living thanks to Agro-lobbyists and corrupt and/or ill-informed lawmakers.

i too was wondering about mods like headers, hi-flow cats, fllow-thro0ugh
mufflers, snorkel, cai, tbs, turbo vs. supercharger, intake air swirler devices,
new plug wire kit, electric fan, and so on and their effects on my mpg. I was
also wondering of anyone knows where all the extra weight compared to the
taco comes from. It's more than just the tailgate and inner box. By the
eway, why does out tailgate have to weigh so much?

No expert but I've heard the weight is because Nissan used the same frame as the Titan, which is 400 lbs heavier than the Toyota's. Also I've read here that the automatic transmission is from the Titan. So the Frontier is overbuilt but that makes it pretty tough. The Tacoma uses its own frame and tranny. Gord

ohhhhhh, the frame. That makes totoal sense. And yes, it was borrowed
from the titan. The taco shares the frame with the 4runner. Now if it has
the same frame as the tundra, we'd have a real comaprison. They are the
same style though, just not the same quality. I can fianlly rest.

Danny, here's a quote from Edmunds.com:
"Fully redesigned for 2005, the Nissan Frontier is now one of the better midsize pickups available. Its current styling apes that of its bigger brother, the Nissan Titan, and it also shares a number of significant features, such as a factory-applied spray-in bedliner, a useful bed channel tie-down system and a fully boxed, all-steel frame that makes it tough enough for extreme off-road conditions."
