So kids have brought me to have to sell my beloved
Frontier. Though often derided by my Jeep-riding
compatriots, I broke but once on a trail (a pinched
brake line due to a since-removed aftermarket mod), and
rarely had to be winched. I took special care to make
this truck incredibly competent offroad, rendering a
machine that is stable, overbuilt, and rarely wants for
traction. This truck has tackled Gilmer's 3 star trails
with ease, hit a four here and there (or parts thereof
anyway), been to Hot Springs, Hawk's Pride, several
locations in Louisiana, and been a faithful hunting
companion. It's never failed me on the trail or the
road, and while I don't want to see her go, it's time to
move on.
As is the story always, the cost of the mods below will
make me ill if I begin to total them, and I surely don't
expect to get that "investment" back, but I'd see $8500
as a bargain for this truck, and to the right owner (who
has to do very little) it would be worth every penny and
then some. Every repair and modification was done with
longevity and in an effort to have the look or feel of a
stock vehicle. I always thought I'd keep this truck
forever, and I took care of it in that manner. The
pictures tell the story, for a vehicle of this vintage,
it's in outstanding condition.
In the interest of full disclosure, the only issues with
the truck are the clutch pedal spring needs to be
replaced (which sometimes prevents full return), and the
rear leaf bushings could use replacement, and I simply
haven't had the time to do either. Otherwise, this
truck is ready to roll. Over just about anything.
The truck itself is worth 5k without mods. The winch,
bumpers, skids, and ARB differentials alone total are
over $5,000 if you bought them. Probably closer to
$6,000. Add in the tires, suspension, and the litany of
upgrades below, and … well… anyway, you're doing better
than 50 cents on the dollar.
If anyone is interested, please let me know, I'm
thrilled to talk about this truck. Kindly keep untoward
remarks off the thread, won't you? I know this isn't
some serious rock-hopping rig, but that was never its
purpose anyway.
Thanks for your consideration.
