hey i have 05 frontier 4.0l 6speed 4x2 and i was wondering
what was need to convert to 4x4 and if it was even worth it

99% of long time machanics and 4x4 driver/owers (such as myself) will tell you NO it's Not worth it!

If you can find a wrecked 4x4 like yours and put your trucks good stuff in it that might be easier. Even the gear ratios are different.

The conversion has been done but costing much money and many hours. The very best way is to trade your truck for a 4x4.
