I've got an old Boy 1999 XE 4x4... he's been sitting for
about 5 years and has only has about 8 miles put on in
that time, and that was 3.5 years ago... I tried to
siphon out the gas and failed, can't seem to get the
tubing to the tank. Thought about draining from the fuel
filter but am concerned about the strain on the fuel
pump. And also concerned about spark and fumes. My nest
thought is to get a quality treatment (Star Brite) then
filling the tank the rest of the way with nonethanol.
Then adding towing to my insurance and driving it until
the gas is used up- then another treatment for the
injectors and change out the filter. Thoughts? (theres
about 10 gallons in the tank) ((he starts right up, no
issue- which is why I am leaning toward the additive and
nonethanol

Shade,

Well If it Start's up and Run's Ok, then I might take it
to the Gas Station and Put some Chevron Techron in the
Tank and Fill the Tank with Gas. Maybe a little bit of
Water Remover in as well before filling.

You really need to take it to a Mechanic and let him
check it out though, IMO, So that he might be able to
catch something that would cost more if not addressed.
The Mechanic may want to Drain the Gas Tank before
anything is done though..

It has been Sitting for a long time and Fluid's may have
leaked out of the Reservoir's, like The Rear Axle and
Other Reservoir's. Best to Take it to a Good Mechanic
and have him Check everything out imo.

Good Luck,
