Hi,

New member here, I'm trying to replace the downstream sensor on my 2012 Frontier, V6.  For the life of me I can't figure out how the clip works to disconnect the electrical connection.  I have squeezed the clip on the sensor wire, I've looked to see if there is any sort of clip on the connection to the truck and I can't seem to figure it out.  Plus there is not a heck of a lot of room to work.

I've seen a few YouTube videos on how to change out the O2 Sensor, but they never cover the actual clip, one guy said he broke it but will worry about it later.  Saw another guy who claims his video is about the O2 sensor, but it shows the one in front of the catalayic convertor - not the same thing at all.

Has anybody changed out the DRIVER's side O2 sensor on the back side of the cat and has figured out how to disconnect the wire?

Thanks.

PJ,

Look in the Nissan Service Manual in the Section that
deal's with the Replacement of the O2 Sensor.

In each section it show's picture's of some of the
Clip's, etc. That may help you,, and it may even mention
how to disconnect the Clip as well.

A Nissan Master Tech could tell you how to work with the
clip, if you can talk with them. The Nissan Service
Manager might let you talk with them.

Good Luck,

Hi Barney,

The Frontier service manual I have doesn't show any tools or connector/clip close ups or even has a discussion of the tools required for the connectors.  It's a PDF I downloaded a few years ago and appears to be the "official" Nissan SM.

Do you have access to other Frontier Service Manuals?

Thanks

PJ,

That's all I have as well. I looked in the EC/Engine
Control Section. It's a Really Really Long Section, and
I may have missed something, but I didn't See anything
Specific enough to help, but I very well may have missed
it.

The Master Tech @ the Nissan Service Dept. will probly
know exactly how to do the disconnect. OtherWise I would
use a Shop Mirror and a Very Good Shop Light,, maybe 2
shop light's to help get as good a view as I could.
Clean the Part's up really good,, so that you can get a
better detailed view. Use a cleaner that won't harm any
of the connector material. I often use a rag dampened
with diesel fuel a lot, but it may not be appropriate for
this. Sometime's I'll us Armorall to clean plastic and
rubber part's. If you use armorall, use the liquid
pump,, NOT THE AEROSOL, AS THE AEROSOL HAS CHEMICAL'S
THAT WILL DO HARM; That's what I've heard anyway, but
I've never used the Armorall in Aerosol though.

The New part may also give a clue as well and a Part's
person @ the Counter may be able to give you some helpful
advice.

I haven't had to do this on my VQ40 yet, so that's about
all I've got for now.

Let us know how it goe's and Good Luck.
