Ok, I have replaced the rear main seal, the flywheel and clutch on my
2001 3.3l manual transmission 4x4 XE Frontier. I couldn't find the
crankshaft position sensor before I dropped the transmission, but found
it afterwards. Ripped the wires clean off and broke off the sensor.
Got a new one, but it won't clear the flywheel, so had to put it on after
reinstalling the transmission. I got it on and the bolt finger tight, but for
the life of me I can't figure out a way to get a wrench or socket onto it, I
can barely touch it. It doesn't help that I'm 6'4" with hands to match.
Other than child labour, does anyone know the trick to installing the
sensor?
Out of curiosity, any ideas as to why it isn't on the other side of the bell
housing? I can easily get to that side. Seems like poor engineering to
me.
