1.) a light rattling noise near glove compartment when the truck is moving (and radio is turned down and

2.) a "clicking" sound at the engine after I've stopped.  Almost sounds like pings and knocks.

Does anyone else have this?  My Frontier is only a 2months old, but these are some noises I wasn't expecting.  I wonder if this is just part of the reak-in period.  Any suggestions are SO completely welcome.  I don't want to bug the crap out of my dealership's service department...

I dont know about the glove box knock, but the noise the engine is making is because of thermal expansion/contraction.  It makes the same noise when you first start it too, if you listen carefully.  Im guessing it might have something to do with the exhaut being steel and the engine being aluminum, different expansion rates.

vq40de, your problem sounds like excessive spark knock.

As far as exaust noises, I figured out its the cheap potmetal heat shields mounted to the exaust directly under the driver. Mine gives a metallic rattle every time I shut a door. I've crawled under there twice and beat on them a little, tried to move them just enough so maybe they'll shut up, and it works....no more noise when shutting a door, but the rattle returns after my next drive. That cheap, thin metal expands and contracts a lot with heat, and since its so thin, it's very noisy. That's where all your 'clicking' is coming from. The dealer isn't likely to do anything about the thermal expansion noises, as a lot of cars do this, but not as noisily...but I'm tempted to ask about the "claaaaaaaang" I'm getting when I shut a door.

ive had my 06 frontier for about a month now and i have a metallic rattle sound coming from what seems to under the truck? ( i think ).  its not all the time but i hear this metal type clinking sound when i close my door or if im going over some rough roads.....not sure whats causing this but by reading some of the above suggestions / resolutions im gonna ride it out....not too sure to even bring it in since it doesnt hamper the drive....aside from the clinking here and there.  hopefully it isnt something bad though.

Easiest way to check it out... go underneath and push around on some items like your exhaust line, driveshaft... etc.  Just be careful on pushing sensors, the could easily break or be damaged.

You may find something as simple as your brake line is close to the exhaust line, and every time you close the door it shakes and hits it.  Don't know till you look.
