I have a 2000 frontier reg pick up with an automatic and a 2.4. I had
some running issues that I thought we had worked out with plug, wires,
cap,and rotor and also had the egr tubes cleaned, that seem to work.
After a couple days I re started the truck after driving to a job about 15
miles away and setting for 30 min approx. it started fine but started to
smoke, kinda white and ran rough. Thought it was a head gasket, but it
went away and ran smooth again. It would continue each time I re
started. At a loss, please help! Could it be leaking oil around the plugs
from the valve gasket and causing it? Just a thought! Thanks for any
help

Still seems like it's coolant leaking. Oil will come out a
blue smoke. Without it in front of me it's hard to say
exactly. Take a wiff from the coolant tank, then have
someone start the truck while you stand by the exhaust and
see if smells the same. If it is, you're leaking coolant
into your engine.

The only thing I could think of along that line would be a
slightly warped head or a small hairline crack. When it's
cold it seeps coolant into a combustion chamber, but once
it warms up it'll close up.    a stretch at a cause
though.

Like kcidmil says, sure sounds like a head gasket concern.
