Hey guys,

After 18 years in a Celica with no AC, I finally got my truck last year.  It's a 2000 CrewCab SE.  About a month after purchased it I had to dump a wad of cash into the AC, including a new compressor, dryer, exchanger, a couple of hoses and some freon.  So I crank it up today and notice that the cool air is cycling off and on in short bursts.  Arrgg! Does this sound normal?  Is this the Frontier's normal AC operation?  Has anyone had any problems like this before and how has it been resolved?  Any help here would be great!

Thanks,

Could be one of the following.

-Outside temp is too cool (A/C doesn't work below 54 degrees)
-Clutch Cycling switch is bad
-Temp sensing bulb for the switch is bad.

hi! I just had my ac repaired on my 2002 Frontier  after 69000 miles on it. It cost me about $400. There was a leak in the ac hose line which is not covered by my extended warranty.

Kinda pissed me off too coz my Nissan quest 1996 for some reason had the same problem with leak on the ac line however cost me more $618. I have 106990 miles on her. Well is this normal to have such a big discrepancy in the life of Nissan's ac hose line?

I heard nissan's ac works so good but lives rather shortly. Is this true?

I almost got stuck in the middle of nowhere thanks to my Ac pump. it is on the same belt as my supercharger and it froze up. luckily I was able to bypass it with a smaller belt and bigger pully. it is crap to replace a pump on a 2003 with 50,000 mile

Honestly the A/C put into the Frontiers isn't that great.  Mine never cooled all that well either.  But my 90 Maxima cools just fine.
