Well, i have a 2001 Nissan Frontier V6 3.3L, brand new engine. It ran good through 2005/2006, it sat for a few years and we tried starting it awhile after, and ran good for a year or two. then it sat again, and still does currently. But about a few months back, we tried starting it. It ran horrible, Ran only for 10 minutes or so then it shuts off. We heard that the catalytic converter usually gets clogged, so we chopped it off(Yes, i know this is illegal, but once i get it running I'm buying a new exhaust system). After we did that, and tried to see if it was just the catalytic converter needed replaced, which still didn't work, and so now we're out of options.
Main problem : "Runs for 10 minutes, then begins to spit and sputter, then stalls out. But for the 10 minutes, it runs fine." We know that it can't be a engine, "engine" wise problem, because it runs awesome within 10 minutes, and of course, the engine is brand new. We figured it was something dealing with the wiring. Anybody got any ideas on what this could possibly be?

Check for rodent intrusion in the air box. Possible MAFS.
Possible moisture and/or rust buildup in the fuel system
due to long periods of storage. Do you use a fuel
stabilizer????

I'll check it out tomorrow. MAFS? Well, i believe the fuel pump(along with the lines) were replaced. pretty much everything on the truck is brand spanking new. Never used a fuel stabilizer for it. Tomorrow I'm going to rip the dash off of it and see if theres any problems with the wiring, but i'll check the air box for anything before i do.
Update : Looked at it today. There was alot of junk(lint, nuts, sticks, leaves, etc) underneath the air filter, thanks mice. Cleaned it all up and ran the same filter(it's still fairly good), and only ran for a minute or so. Still spits and sputters, and then dies.

Here is a thought. Did you check fuel filters for chucnks of thick gasoline additives. The gasoline evaporates faster than the additves and even if not thick it may fool the sensers and computer. If the gasoline completely evaporates it will leave a dry crust of sediment.
Good luck.. Don S..

MAFS = mass air flow sensor. If you are not using a Genuine
Nissan oil impregnated air filter, your MAFS is dirty
and/or NG.

Iakota : No i did not. I'll have to check that out and see if its the problem.
Frontierguy : So if the MAFS is dirty and/or needs replaced, it would be causing the vehicle to shut off within seconds? When i start it, and try to give it gas it just dies within seconds. How would you "clean" a dirty MAFS?

You can buy spray cans of cleaner made for the MAFS at most auto parts houses.
Yours should be like my '99 3.3 and right after the air cleaner box. The trick is don't touch the element! It is very fradual! Spay it then blow the residue off lightly with clean dry air. Some times you can buy a spay can of air at computer supply places.
Have a good one.. Don S..

Just spray the internal elements of the MAFS. If you damage it you'll need to buy a new one. If this thing is messed up the computer can't figure out how much gas to inject for the correct fuel/air ratio! If the fuel/air ratio is not correct every thing that happens after is BAD.
Good luck.. Don S..

Well, pulled off the air box along with the manifold, tried to start it and it didn't work. Checked the fuel, and I'm getting fuel to the engine, fuel pump is good and works, fuel lines are good no leaks what-so-ever, checked the spark plugs, all good, checked the spark and sparks good, along with the distributor cap, all good. Fuel rail has gas. Tomorrow I'm going to test out the injectors to see if they're good.
