Ok so my 2008 Frontier V6 Se is due it's 15000 mile service, so I e-mailed them and asked for a quote and whats involved?

They came back saying oil and filter change (that's ok). But then they said it needs cabin filter replacement ($90), brake fluid flush ($90), and alignment to be performed ($90).

How do they warrant all this on a relatively new vehicle? It sounds like they are trying to make work out of a small service, I have a mind to leave them and go to a smaller workshop ?

How can the brake fluid need changing after only 15000 miles, I do not live in a moisture high environment where the fluid might be hydroscopic and absorb water etc. The truck drives fantastic and I keep a regular check on tire pressures and wear patterns, I can change the cabin filters myself,get them from Bosch or Mann suppliers for much cheaper.

Has anybody come across this before and what's your opinions on this?

Trouble is  it's not a complimentary alignment. They want to charge $90 as part of the 15,500 mile service.

Buy the cabin air filters on-line and do it yourself.  They get pretty gross after just a year and if not replaced, the affect the efficiency of your air conditioner and heater.  I do a brake fluid flush about every 3-4 years and let the dealer do it.  Alignment?  No wierd wear...no need for an alignment.  I do most of my own maintenance under warranty but keep receipts and meticulous records.  I will let the dealer exchange the coolant but almost everything else, I do.

I would recommend that you drain and replace the two diffs and the transfer case (assuming you are 4WD).  Remember to take out the fill plug before the drain plug!!  If these have not been replaced, they need to be.  You will be surprised how gross they are.  And make sure you get new aluminum and copper washers for the job.  These are a dealer item.

I have just owned the truck for under a year.  Just after delivery it developed a leak from the tranny cooler up on the core support. The ysaid they serviced it before they gave it to me, but I checked it and it had not been touched!

I was seriously pissed that they left out the truck with a leak, anyway there was no mention of changing fluids in the diffs, both front and rear. Just brake fluid and cabin filters. I will do the filters myself and let them do the oil change which for some reason they said is free???
