I have an 07 Frontier 4x4 club cab 6cyl engine. The last couple of days the gas gauge has not been reading properly. It would not acknowledge that I had filled it up. Then this afternoon it went completely down right after I filled up and the "OMG You're empty" light came on with 10 miles on the filled tank.  Well I knew it wasn't empty and knew it had been acting funny so I just drove on  and when I got to my next stop I looked under the truck and just wiggled the wires around the gas tank and suddenly it started working.

I guess my question here is this: Is there a recall of fuel sending units for 07? I did a search in the forum and saw someone mention it for 06. Perhaps it's just a loose connector? Is this a common problem? If the fuel sending unit is in fact bad do you have to replace the fuel pump assembly at the same time?

Any help would be appreciated.

06 and 08 are included in the recall. Call your dealer, I
believe that 07 is now included. Not at work, so I don't
have access to the correct info.

I called my dealer and they told me that it was NOT recalled per se. He said that the warranty had been extended from standard mileage to 72,000 miles. I have 82,000 miles so I don't qualify.

He quoted me a price on a new one (part only) and said I need to replace a gasket as well. Looking at a Chilton's manual, all I see is an O ring around the entire fuel pump assembly as it fits into the fuel tank. Is this the gasket he would be referring to?

I found this part on Amazon for the fuel sensor: LINK
Should I also replace the fuel filter while I've got the thing out?
Are there any tips anyone can give me regarding removal of the gas tank to do this?

Thanks a bunch in advance.

I would make a call to Nissan and see if they
would"goodwill" your fuel level sensor. It is an "o-ring "
that is needed and a special tool to remove the lock ring(
although I'm sure it could be done w/ a hammer and punch.
Helps if the tank is nearly empty.

NO.
Earlier Frontiers are covered by Recall #R0401 or R0402
depending on which state you live in. This is for corrosion
at the top of the tank sending unit which affects the fuel
pump operation. It also covers the fuel tank if rusted.
Check with your dealer.

Hello,

I'm new here but I am having the same problem with my truck.  It is an 07 Frontier SE crew cab with 52,000 miles.  It started with the SES light coming on everytime I filled up and then my fuel gauge was really slow to register (sometimes it took 3 hours or so to get all the way to the top).  I overlooked some of the problems because it has been so cold here lately. Then today I went and filled the truck up and my fuel gauge well all the way to Full and then less than 2 miles down the road I noticed it had dropped all the way to E and the low fuel light and the SES light is on.

I'm just wondering if you got your issue resolved and what it was and how much this is going to cost me.  I love the truck but I've only had it a month and this is frustrating.

Thanks
