I copied from an older post posted on this website:
NTB07-042 says to replace the secondary timing chains and tensioners. The problem is that the chain wears through the plastic of the tensioner down to the metal plunger on the tensioner, hence the whining noise.
My question is does the new tensioner designed in a way where the plastic will not wear out? Is this a redesign or a band aid to give the tensioner another 50K miles?
I plan on keeping my 08 V6 for many years and want to be proactive on all items ( doing AT external cooler next year before warranty runs out)
Thanks,
