My 2000 Nissan Frontier 4WD 3.3 V6 has been overheating since July. I began by putting a fan shroud on it because I bought without one on it (it was a rebuilt). That didn't work. He slowly gets hotter and hotter. So I thought well maybe the temperature sensor was bad. 5 dollars and no fix. Well then I thought the thermostat might be sticking so I changed it and although it looked rough, no bieno. I have flushed the radiator and I don't seem to be losing any water at all and the engine does not run rough at all. I do not have any water getting into my oil or any other evidence of head gasket damage or other internal issues. A friend of mine alerted me to check the fan clutch and it does seem to me that it could be slipping which would explain why it does heat up while idling. The fan is engaged at an idle but when I accelerate it does appear that the fan actually slows down. Belt seems tight so would my next logical step be to replace the fan clutch? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Fan clutch sounds like a good bet. Also, don't forget to clean the fins of the cond and rad with compressed air or garden hose(this is best accomplished by removing the rad).

it only heats up going down the road i flushed the radiator out i'm pretty sure it is clean i really don't think it's the clutch fan although it does have a bit of wobble i'm rewally leaning toward water pump, even though i am not losing any water the fins could be corroded and not circulating water? or maybe the bearing has went out causing the slight wobble but no it does not heat up just idling and the clutch fan engages then so that's why i'm leaning toward the water pump

How did you flush the radiator? You may need a new one if the core is packed with mineral deposits. One reason to always use distilled water with your antifreeze instead of tap water.
