my sending unit is bad, i had the  dealership diagnose and im gonna change it myself since its a 100 dollar part and they want 400 to change it. im gonna get a service manual for it which should say how to change it but is there anything to look out for. has anybody done it

also the dealership said its not under my powertrain warranty since its a seperate part from the fuel pump. why is there not a recall on it?

It's a 2.1 hour job that can be done in about 30 minutes on a lift. Have as little fuel in the tank as possible, disconnect the fuel filler hose and the lines near the fuel filler, when lowering the tank, only drop it enough to get your hand above it to disconnect the electrical connector(about 4 inches-not much slack in the harness), then it can be lowered a little further to disconnect the fuel line, once out the lock ring needs to be removed with a special tool or punch and hammer, pull out assy, separate the fuel level sensor, install new sensor. Should have a new "O"ring for the sender seal also. That sounds awfull expensive for the fuel level senor, might want to check another dealer. Do a search, I'm sure there is another post where I gave someone prices, just can't remember the prices of every part!< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">
Fuel level sending unit #25060-ZZ00A $100.55
O ring 17342-EA000 $13.10
Prices have gone up!!!
