Ugh where do I begin??!?!
Well I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 edition. I love this truck, but what gets me going is the paint chip problems that it has. For example, behind the rear passenger seat, in front of the rear wheel there is severe paint chipping going on. There are parts that it is down to the metal. Im afraid of rusting.
I went to Nissan and they said that they couldnt do anything, obviously, I went to 2 dealers same effect, I called the 1-800 number and they said the regional manager will call me with an out come.
I went to Maaco the told me $550.00 for the job, and a few other car paint shops, I had estimates up to $2000 for the truck! WHAT?!?!?!?! The dealers told me it was a design flaw, and nothing they can do. Im a college student without alot of money, what should I do? Pictures are posted. Thanks

Instead of repainting it have the same problem again, I thought what if you put line-x or some Rhino liner on the spots that are terrible???? I heard its a better idea than dropping 2 ks down on a new paint job...

Nissan will cover up to $500 for the repair. Had mine done, didn't cost me a dime. The concern being, I'm sure it will do it again w/o running boards. I almost think it is caused by stones being thrown forward by the rear tires and bouncing back as opposed to the front tires throwing them back-that's just a guess, never been proven. Keep after your dealer or keep calling the 800 #. Tell them you will post picturesof your truck in the news paper!! Had a guy in the shop last week with an 09 CC with 3K miles that looked worse than yours, he lives on a dirt road!< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

Wow, Thanks! The thing is Im from Reno, NV and I loved up to Seattle, WA. I talked to the guys at the dealership here in Seattle, but they claimed they couldnt do anything. Stupid, I called the 800 number twice today, and they said they will get back to me tomorrow. Should I just go ahead and do the linex? or Rhino Line the area? I just want to keep it protected, I guess once I lift the truck, ill get the running boards.

I saw a Frontier (2005 an newer) and the entire truck was done with line-x/rhino. Did not look bad at all, never have to worry about scratches and dings, or waxing it either.

Well officially I hate nissan's C.S. department, what a joke. I love the truck, hate their CS. I got a quote to do that area 250.00 does that sound reasonable?

I used a "bedliner in a spray can" product (maybe a DupliColor product?). Taped off the area, sprayed on two even coats, and let it sit overnight. That was a year ago. No more problem. Cost...about $6.
