Hello,
I am new to this forum and have been on the club frontier forum. I have done some recent mods and work to my 99 frontier. However since I have finished My truck runs fine when it is just in neutral and idling however as soon as I put into gear the rpms sky rocket. I have retraced my steps over and over again, tested the tps, got out the mityvac to test vacuum. Everything points to a vacuum leak I just cannot for the life of me figure out why the rpms would crank up when I am in gear. Its so bad I do not even need to use the gas pedal till I get to second. I am running in circles if some one has seen this before, or knows of this problem pleas help

So this is somthing that only happens under a load, and you have a stick shift?

My experience with vacuum leaks are that it will not idle, and if it does, it is a rough idle, enough to rattle your brains.   Could you have loose gaskets/seals on intake manifold? This would allow the engine to draw too much air making it run lean, then the ECM adds fuel, then the next thing you know, it is racing.

My only guess would be that you added a throttle body spacer and now it's sticking?

Yes, I added a TBS, however the linkage is all clear. Yes, it is a stick shift. So when I put it into gear the engine races to well over 2 grand this happens when the clutch is in or out. As soon as I pop it back to neutral she slows down and gives me a steady low idle. I had a buddy work the transmission while I watched, and the throttle linkage does not move at all. This is why it leads me to vacuum, or some kind of sensor. dmartin16 are you asking if the TBS is causing the throttle linkage to stick because of the changed position????

I don't have much experience, I just had an issue on an old chev that had a somewhat similar problem after I put a TBS on it.. but I don't remember what happened.. that was 8 years ago..

Sounds like some wires are crossed- try unplugging the neutral switch on the trans and see what happens.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">
