List of problems i am having with my 03 Crew Cab XE

1. The heater doesnt work when im at idle. I know this was on another post but i checked my rad and the overflow and both are full. Besides checking the fluid level im not sure to tell if the rad is bad. Any time im not accelorating my heater blows cold!!

2. I apparently am having oil burn off in a bad way. I am going through aprox. 1 1/2-2 quarts a week. There are no oil spots on the ground where i park. However my windshied and side view mirrors seem to have oil residue on them. HAvent noticed any signs of burnoff on the tailgate. Kinda tells me its coming from the top end???

3. A vibration that comes on about 40 mph and gets worse with acceleration. So far  i have balanced/rotated tires, replaced wheel bearings, and replaced the front drive shaft u joints.

Please help. I'm thinking my truck maybe ready for the junk yard and ive only had it less than a year.

1. Sounds like you may have a thermostat stuck open
2. are you blowing blue smoke? Does the coolant have oil in it?
3. Did you check the rear u joint to see if it has play in it?

How many miles on this truck?

David

Thinking about it some more, I think the heater core is shot.
Do you smell anti freeze when you drive?

OK...I do sometimes smell anit freeze when i drive. There isnt oil in my anti freeze but there is water or anti freeze in my oil. In addition to blowing cold air at idle my truck takes about 10-15 miles to warm up at all.

I did check the rear u joints for play they are tight. this truck has 126k on it.

Where it is so cold here right now its blowing white smoke all the time

Sounds like you have a blown head gasket, the white smoke you see is water being blown out, but not sure why you have to add so much oil to it and do not see any residue on the tailpipe of bumper.
Is your air cleaner looking normal, and not caked with oil?

I am not sure what to say about the vibrations

Don't drive until that head gasket is replaced or you will end up killing the bearings and crank surfaces.  $$$$$$$   Get it towed to a garage.

There is no water in the oil on the dipstick. Just gathering at the top of the filler tube. I am thinking it could be condensation???

IF it was a blown headgasket the white smoke would be very thick and not dissipate quickly like normal condensation white smoke. Did you try removing the bleed screw for the coolant to remove any air pockets. Are you sure the oil fill cap is still on the right side valve cover??? If the center carrier on the drive shaft has been replaced and the yoke not installed in the same plane as the front, you will get a bad vibration.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

Yes Im sure that the Oil fill cap is on the right side of the valve cover?? I just meant that i checked the dip stick and it didnt have the same yellow slimy gunk as the neck of the filler tube
