I replaced the fuel filter. I poured all in one gas treatment into the tank. When I started the truck up this morning it ran correctly but then when I drove down the road it lost power and felt like it was going to die. It idles fine but if I press on the gas pedal alittle bit, it only revs up to 2.5 rpms and if I press all the way down it drops under 1 rpm and sounds like it is dieing. Any suggestions of what the cause is?

the gas treatment could have clogged the injectors. most likely not but just a suggestion. happened to me on my old jeep. or the new fuel filter is pumping to much gas and flooding the engine.

This is a 2001 M/T 2wd with 94k. I was having problems prior to pouring fuel cleaner in so I don't think it's the cause. It was sitting for over a month or 2.

Does your truck have tracion control? I would check the coil make sure the conections are tight check and see if you have spark right after it dies or hook up an in line spark checker go down each wire. check the wires going to the fuel pump any broken or expossed wires cauing an issue Hook up a fuel pressre regulator and check your fuel PSI the more rpms the more fuel load you need check and see if an increase in rpms = increase in fuel pressure. Does the truck back fire when you increase the rpm?

Assuming it is a 4 cyl, look down the hole where the MAFS fine wires are and see if there is any debris or if the wires are dirty. Also check distributor cap for dirt intrusion, there is an update dist and cap, I usually just blow out the dist and replace the cap and rotor with GENUINE Nissan parts.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

You might check the catylic converter. My 08 did something like this, had a plugged cat. It happened fast.

I have had this same issue a few times while offroading. Generally from my experience, it has been that the air filter is clogged, the MAFS is dirty, or water is getting into the engine from the intake.
Best of luck on getting it running right!

I took it in for an inspection and the mechanic checked the fuel pump pressure, catalytic converter and exhaust. He believes the MAFS is the problem. Unfortuneately it's part of the throttle assembly which is around $200 after market. I'll try checking for dirt and debris first but if all else fails then I guess I'll have to get a new one. Thanks for all your suggestions.
