< =text/>_popupControl(); Just bought a 2010 Frontier Crew Cab.  When starting from a dead stop, there is a noticeable "thud" type feeling in this truck.  Only does it when I give it gas from a dead stop.  If I just take my foot off the brake, let it roll a few feet and then give it gas, the thud is not there.  The dealer has had this truck back 3 times since I bought it in August 2009.  They changed the driveshaft first but did not fix it.  Last time they said they put it on a lift to look for something loose underneatch but didnt find anything.  Anyway its still not fixed.  Has anyone ever experienced anything like this.  Any ideas on what the heck that thud could be.  Its not the utilitrac covers in the back.  I took those out and it stills does it.  Next move is to bring it to another dealer who may have better mechanics.  Any ideas are appreciated.  Thanks! K

I had the same problem, I found that the spare tire was not tight enough. If that is not it, then I would suggest putting a load in the back of the truck, a few hundred pounds, if you can, and try it again. I have heard of leaf springs thudding when starting off when there is no load on them. I used to have a truck that the tailgate was out of adjustment and it was clunking upon acceleration and deceleration. I adjusted the latches and clunk went away. Do you hear it if you jump up and down in the truck? I am guessing it is suspension related and not a driveline problem.

< =text/>_popupControl(); No, the truck is real quiet when driving.  Its just the start from the dead stop when the "thud" is apparent.  It also feels like it does it when I brake a little hard.  Dealer service dept is clueless.  Gonna try another dealer.  If he cant fix it, I'm getting rid of this thing.   Thanks for your help my friend.

Can you say LEMON LAW. If the vehicle cannot be repaired after 3 attempts, lemon law should apply in most states.

< =text/>_popupControl(); Thanks FrontierGuy.  Problem at this point is the dealer and his so-called mechanics say nothing is wrong with it.  They say that feeling is normal.  Right now its at another dealer other than the one I bought it from.  I'm getting his opinion on it.  If its "normal" I'm shopping for a Silverado.  If that deal doesnt work, I may try the "helper spring" fix I've read about on these forums.  Again thanks for your response.

Have you driven another Nissan to see if it does it. That is what the technical assistance guys at Nissan tell us to do, verify with another vehicle, several sometimes. Also a test drive with the technician or service adviser is helpful.

Every Toyota Truck I've ever owned has done this at one time or another - A Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner.   Every time, the solution was to thoroughly lube the "propeller" shaft at the rear.  I'm not completely sure what the propeller shaft is, but it has something to do with the driveshaft coupling to the differential.  My symptoms in each truck were always the same.  Come to a stop, let off the brake like you are going to take off, and there's a thud like someone just bumped into your rear bumper from behind.  I've heard people explain it as "axle wrap" and other things, but I can tell you for sure that lubing that propeller shaft only takes a tech 5 minutes during an oil change, and I've never been charged for it.  The lube solutions lasts (solves the problem COMPLETELY) for about a year and a half.  So, about every three oil changes I tell the service folks to LUBE THE PROPELLER SHAFT.

Hope this helps you.  I just ordered my 2010 Frontier SE AT V6 yesterday so I'll see if I have this issue as well.  I should get my new truck in a few days.

Mark
