Hello all.
I am new to this forum, and I searched for an answer but did not find one.
When going over bumps\bumpy roads I am hearing a strange noise from the rear end, I first thought it was the license plate but after dampening that, I still get this noise, and it sometimes sounds like it's about to fall apart. There are no other problems at all, alignment is good, power is good and no strange noise during accelleration, it's only when I go over bumps and it happens even when I have brake applied so I know that is not it either.

Welcome to the group!
Internal or external broken part in the shock absorbers can make a racket over bumps. Loose parts in the spare tire holder can too.
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Thanks, I am about to crawl under it while the weather is good and check several things out...exhuast mounting brackets, spare tire holder, etc..see if anything is loose to the touch...Shocks seem fine just by the old push the vehicle down test, not bouncy at all.

Your shocks themselves may be fine, it is likely something connecting the shock. Check for worn out bushings, loose nuts, etc.
My front end is making odd clanking noises when I go over bumps as well, it turns out there is a completely failed bushing on my anti-sway bar. Replacing bushings is very cheap and fairly easy, so I'd check these first.
For a 2006, this seems a little early for a bushing to fail though....check for loose, missing, or broken hardware in the back.
Hope this helps!

Check to see if you have a broken leaf spring. Also, make sure the bolts holding the leaf springs are tight! Or perhaps an exhaust system part (heat shield, hanger) is loose and causing the noise.

I guess I can crawl under there and check the heat shield. Everything else seems to be pretty tight, or at least I am unable to move it and the bolts are tight as well. The Shocks look good...but then again what the heck are they supposed to look like, none of the bushings look damaged. Grrrrrrrr

Heat shields are all tight...I dont get it. Everything seems tight, but something is making that noise and it is coming from the bottom rear end. I guess I am going to have to take to a shop and have them put completely on a lift to try to find it.

Other thoughts.
Loose tail gate, loose bumper, nut on leaf spring bolt not tightened leading to spring rattle (this one is potetnially quite dangerous), exhaust pipe hitting something like frame (try jiggling the entire exhaust system), loose license plate, spare tire not being held tightly in place.
Let us know what you find.

I finally think I have found the issue. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/42/064230ae.html must be a member I guess
Service bulletin dated 05-117 DEC 05 States that the clips on the leaf spring need a certain type of grease with molycote 7. You would think that if this is dated in 2005, a 2006 would have come with it applied already.
Went and purchased a tube from local autoparts store for under 5.00 and followed a guide found on another website to understand what all needed to be done so I could lubricate the parts properly.
I only did this, this morning but already everything is much quieter. I will give it a week for the new grease to get into where it needs to be via normal driving.
But the NOISE IS GONE!!!!
