Have any of you guys changed your spark plugs yet? I have an 06 Frontier XE with almost 44k on it now. They say supposedly that since they are platinum tipped, your good until 100k, but I don't like to push it that far. Do you guys know where to get diagrams on this for? By looking at the engine itself, it looks like your going to have to take the entire intake system off on the top. My engine is a 2.5 L V4. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The spark plugs are under the individual coils.
Sorry. Diagram didn't copy.
Didn't read far enough- says to remove intake manifold to gain access to plugs.
Trust me, the plugs will easily run 105,000 miles.
According to motor-all data, it's a 2 hour job to replace plugs.
I've only seen one 4 cyl (05).

Yeah I figured that lol. You have to take the entire intake off which looks pretty time consuming. Maybe they try to make it hard so that you have to have them do it. What a bad design.

go to this link ( http://www.nissanhelp.com/Models/2006/Frontier%20King%20Cab/ Description.htm) and click on "Ownership". It will give you access to an online shop manual for your truck. And yes, you do have to remove the intake manifold.

So, I know this is an old post, but I was trying to figure out how to change my spark plugs.  Main, what a pain in the @$$.  But let me tell you, even at 75,000 miles, the spark plugs definately needed changed.  Yeah, it still ran and would probably run longer, but they were all sooted up and corroded.  I change my oil ever 3000 miles and do not run cheap-o gas.  The book may say that you can get 100,000 plus miles, but I recommend changing them before that.  Just my 2-cents!

Tried to remove the intake box/system on 05 Frontier 2.5. in order to change the spark plugs. Does anyone know if it requires any special tool(s). I found two bolts at the bottom of the intake box, one at the front of the engine and one at the back, nearly at the point where the intake meets the engine itself. However, after removing the bolt at the front, I found that this did not loosen anything due to a tab holding the intake in. (Like an eyelette with a tab on the bottom). I noticed that the theads, that the bolt I removed was on, had a star shaped pattern on the end and was wondering, DO THESE THREADS COME OFF?

I tried looking on "Ownership" on the above mentioned website but could not find. If anyone knows how to remove the intake, please let us know.

Thank you

05 2.5L

Hi,

Was anyone able to change the plugs in the 2.5 4cy engine? Do you have to remove the injectors to get the intake manifold off?
