I was just about to do the same thing in my 01 crew. I have heard good things from racing enthusiasts. They say that you should do all your oils not just engine oil. The race guy I know said that If I want inproved performance I must -1.increase hp. or, 2. improve aerodynamics ie. tonneau cover etc... or, 3. decrease weight ie. tailgate, spare tire etc... or 4. decrease friction and drag on engine ie. synthetic oils, electric fan, no a/c, no power steering. I know that some of those thing seem outrageous for a daily driver but, a racer would try to do them all. My crew cab weighs 5000lbs. Good luck.
