After driving for awhile the dash gauges(speedo,tach,temp,fuel)DIE/cease
functioning!Turn off motor,restart a little later they are functioning again.
   If driving with headlights on,they stop working sooner.
2 days ago the truck sat in sun and got quite hot inside.Upon start-up the
gauges did not work.10 minutes later ,after a stop and restart,they were
working again .
    It seems that heat plays some role in this problem BUT what can I do to fix
it???

have you tried contack cleaner on any conections melted wires. This sounds like a mositure problem. When ever I see a tach going funny check coil and disutror conection and work backwards to the dash. BTW give some more info of truck year model motor tranny

I am having the same problem.   All gauges go to zero.  Sometimes it lasts for a few minutes other times a 30 minutes.  Dealer says everything checks out fine and I need to bring it in while it is happening.  Of course it never happens when I have an appointment.

I also have a loud rattle when I start my truck now.  Any ideas?

I have  a 2000 Desert Runner

Thanks
Ron

..

ronjcar;

You might try adding some ground straps between, a metal part of the dash to a metal part of the body, and to the frame and between the engine and frame. Have a friend crank it while you search the area that the noise is coming from.

Have a good one and see you later… Don S..

My Poppa told me to only bet on aces, straights and cinches.
