Howdy Frontier Forum!

I have an 03 Frontier that makes noise when I turn on the AC.  When I am running the AC my truck will periodically make a loud squeeking sort of noise.  If anyone has any recommendations how to fix this noise would certainly be appreciated.  Thanks!!!

..

Ojorojo;

Welcome to the group!

... Most of the time the noise is the rubber belt slipping and it needs just a little tightening or a parts house has some belt dressing for sale.  Some times the compressor has a problem. Some times an idler pulley will have a dry bearing.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

By November many of us will not have the money to buy gasoline to go vote!

I agree with Lakota.  But here's a trick I have used very successfully for squealing belts for years.  It has worked on friend's vehicles even when a dealer threw up their collective hands.

Get some SILICONE dielectric grease.  DO NOT use petroleum based grease.  Apply small babs on the ribbed side (or the V side) of the belt at about 6-10 locations, making sure it goes across all the ribs.  Turn the engine on and let it idel for a minute.  This will coat the inside of the belt and keep it from squealing.  Don't put any on the ouside of a serpentine belt or the tensioner may slip past it's tension point!
