So here's the issue.  I bought this truck in May.

Everything pointed to the 17 gal tank.  I couldn't understand why, having the V6, but whatever.  The gas gauge read empty and I filled it up, always less than 17 gal.  I would get about 280 on a tank at the absolute best (all hwy - approx 19 mpg)

I wrecked the truck last month.  Somewhere along the lines they had to reset the ECU to get the airbag light to go off.

Well, now Im getting a lot more miles before it starts to read low.  Of course, FUEL MILEAGE HAS NOT CHANGED.  I put 17.6 gal in it last time I filled up and it was reading about halfway between 1/4 tank and E, I've been kind of apprehensive to let it get too low thinking maybe the readings were screwed up.

Was this thing just screwed up and thought I had a 17 gal tank and I really have the 21 gal?

WTF???

..

cbk06;

... WELCOME TO THE GROUP!!

Come on now,... computers never make mistakes!

Last week my low fuel light came on for the first time ever and that's since Dec. 1998.  I took on 18.6 gallons and topped it off. They set the computer light that way because the fuel cools the electric fuel pump and running low can shorten it's life.

... Other than that carry a two or five gallon can of gas and run it out, add the gas and refuel... It will come out to about 21 gallons.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

I have an 06 Se 4x4.  You can easily get 300+ miles per tank.  I usually get to 300 or more before filling up (and I don't wait for the fuel light).

According to Nissan (this is in your manual by the way, and on Nissanusa.com), the frontier has a 21.1 gallon tank.  I've put in as much as 18 gallons before, but never more.

Honestly, you don't want to run it too low; consistently running it low can eventually lead to fuel pump failure.  Don't run it out of gas like the previous poster suggested -- its not good for your truck.

You have the 21.1 gallon tank.  I also only get 19 MPG.
