Aloha,  Recently bought an LE and truly love it.  Only fault I've found is that the front passenger seat (The one that can be folded to the front 'flat') has a tendency to vibrate (resonate?) and shimmy side to side 2-3 inches when driving on anything less than smooth roads. When this happens the seat mades a very disturbing sound.  I'm going to mention it at my first 3000 mile 'check-up' but was wondering if this is a design or a personal problem.

Have you checked it for loose bolts/nuts and so forth?

Aloha Again, I've looked for any loose or ill-fitting components - Tried to position the seat tilt more forward or back - cycled the tilt mechanism to ensure it was 'locked' into the grooves and everything appears OK.  It just seems like there is so much seatback, the mountings below, can't contain/dampen the movement.

Aloha All,

The eathquake has subsided.  The seat seems to have setled down.

Talking to some friends who handle structural engineering questions, they tell me that either something loosened to allow dissapation of the oscillation or the metal that was flexing 'stiffened up' due to flex stress.

Either way, I'm glad it's settled down.

Bob

Mele Kalikimaka,

I'm still 'luckily' not having the shimmy.  The seat still vibrates a bit, but given the different aspects of movement for the back, I can't expect it to be as rigid as a fixed back seat.

When it was happening it seemed as though the vibration was 'resonate' or it was as if the vibrations were aiding each other in maintaining the vibration.

And yes the sound was a squeeky rattle with a whooping buzz.  (.aif file omitted.)

R/

i have an 07 king cab v6 6speed...... truth is, ergonomically these trucks are not refined at all....and there is not much you can expect eighter from a cheap plastic interior...i have had several rattle, squeaking and taping noises ever since i bought it...took it in to have them fixed right away, but still a couple unfixables remain.... such as the passenger seat tapping noise just as mentioned in this thread... and a pannel vibrating under the dashboard at 3000+ rpm.....but then again...being used to a world class audi interior, my expectations might be a bit high.... on the other hand i am very impressed with the powertrain... that alone was worth the money.

I just stuffed a towel between the side of the seat and the console. No more shaking seat and a towel if you (might) need one.
