I recently bought a 2001 supercharged 4x4 frontier and am experiencing an odd AC issue.

When I get in the truck first time of the day or after it has cooled the AC works wonderfully. But, if I stop and kill the truck and leave it parked in the sun and go in a store or something for a short time, upon return. The AC compressor wont kick on. Sometimes for the rest of the day. Most times it will just take a bit and then kick on.  If I never kill the truck. the AC will work flawlessly all day long.

I had it leak checked and serviced recently but the guy couldn't fix my problem. I changed out the relay and my dash switches check out ok.

Is this a common? does anyone have a clue as to whats going on?

Thanks

di he put in an R134a some times a low pressure sensor will turn off the compressor on an A/C the system will leak naturally over time the connections on a MVAC are done with flare fitting and leak more often than the weld fittings on the HVAC in a home. also check the air filter for the freash air intake if it is cloged it may sieze the system up and shut it down on high head pressure.

Yes it was r134a. Air filter? Are you talking  TB intake filter or does the ac vent system have one? If so where might that dude be located?

Thanks,
