i have a 99 nissan frontier se v-6 3.3 automatic. This truck is great but it shifts hard into first gear and running about 70 mph its staying around 3000 rpm which i think is pretty high for this engine  the tranmission is not slipping and it is going into overdrive if anyone knows what could be causing this please reply

yeah im going to check the torquwe converter because i noticed today when i let off the rpm gage falls instantly and doesnt fall slowly.

thanks for the reply

..

colton307;

Welcome to the group!

... When was the last time the tranny fluid was changed? 3000 does seem a little high. Maybe the lock-up torque converter isn't locking.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Most of the countries we import our food and goods from hate our guts… do you think for a minute they treat the food and merchandize with loving care? Globalization Sucks for the average American… but our enemies, and big business, and our politicians love it!

yeah on my 01 CC SE-V6 i have to be close to 80 mph before i'm hitting 3000 rpm, so it does seem a little high i'd agree

My 01 Frontier has to be right at 80 mph before it's at 3000 rpm.  Mine is an auto V-6 also, 4x4 so not much different from yours.  I would recommend a tranny fluid change if you haven't done so.  I wouldn't think your rear-end gearing was larger?
