I have a 2003, 4 cyl, auto trans, 2wd.
Right after I bought the truck 2 months ago the service engine light turned on.  The dealer fixed it for nothing.  They replaced the plugs, wires, 02 sensor, egr, and finally the intake manifold.  The intake manifold composite was breaking down.

The thing I noticed about the truck is that it accelerates fine in town and the highway to about 50-55.  It just doesn't like going 65, it will do it but it is pushing it.  It will do 58-60 without any real problems but its favorite speed is about 50-55.

It averages about 23 mph in mixed driving.

My question is the lack of go at high speeds indicate a problem they missed or is it just a 4 cyl in a medium size truck?
Thanks,

Fr. Robert

sounds to me more like a transmission problem than a engine.  Check your fluid level, it could be low.  If it's fine, you might want to have it checked out.  Some of the clutch discs inside could be worn out.

The RPMs are roughly a bit over 2000 rpm at 55 mph and 2500 at 65 mph

Thanks,
