Ok so, when the truck is started I get this heavy squeeling noise coming from the fan area, I know its the belts right, nope belts were changed, tension is correct. Thought maybe the battery is toast and putting strain on the altenator, new battery still no change. Also changed all pulleys and bearings in belt system. When squeeling happens a quick pump of the gas gets rid of noise. Any idea's out there, hopefully cheap fix, sick of finding out aftermarket parts are not available and nissan parts are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Could it possibly be the altenator, had it tested and it tested fine.
Thanks

Are you sure it is coming from the front of the engine bay? check the front right side where the starter is located. If it sounds more like it is coming from the front right then it could be your starter.

Nope, its most definitely coming from the front bay. I also have a friend with the same problem except his truck is a 2001 I believe, he's tried everything also.
Recently I tried tightening the belts alittle and popped a Heavy Duty battery in. This has seemed to fix the problem so I thought. In the last 5 weeks since the work was done it seems like its beginning to squeel again, but this time its quick and only for a moment. I was also told this could be the bearing in the Fan, which on Nissans, is going steady. Apparently there is an upgrade out there to replace the van with an alternative system. Also I was told it could have something to do with the power steering?

i changed my belts, checked all the tensions, used dressing and still nothing. UNTIL i had my supa-mechanic take a look. he was done re-tensioning all of them when he noticed that the alternator pivot bolt was stripping out and graddualling letting off tension. but that was my case with the belts. i dont have an A/C system so i cant tell you anything about that. i removed it after i bought the truck. my friend hit a deer with it and busted the dryer. lack of use caused the compressor to lock up so i took everything off. but hope this gives you something else to look at. oh and check the A/C clutch for slippage. just a thought. spray white lithium grease in all your pully bearings also.....i think thats it. these are the routine answers i use at work.....ADVANCE AUTO PARTS

good point by hintonl. if the bearing(s) is bad a remanufactured pump cost less than $30 where i work. it may be a good idea to have the cooloing system flushed. the coolant also serves as a lube for the pump and if your coolant is old then this may help-if the bearings arent too far gone.

i swapped out the fan for an electric one and i was pleased with the investment. you may even notice a small gain in power and gas mileage-because the engine is no longer turning the fan and fan clutch assembly. the swap is easy and the fan comes with instructions. the fan and controller should cost less than $175. if you want the part numbers of what i have i can give them to you.

You guys rock!, I'm definitely due for a coolant change, how much will a new water pump set me back? Is it with nissan? And is it easy to change?

I may just change the fan, glad you mentioned that I've been inquiring about that in the past, I'll take as much info on that as you can give, do you have to make any other mods to install the fan, ie. altenator? Is this part with nissan? Oh and I'll check my adjuster bolt to make sure its not stripped, makes sense because about 1 month after the belts are tightend the squeeling begins again.
Thanks again for the info guys, great help!

If you have the V6 its about 75-80.00 from Nissan and since your in there you might as well do a timing belt change also you have to take the belt off to get to the water pump.
