What's the best class III hitch to buy and how hard is it to install?

I got mine at Uhaul.com, $124.95. Free shipping and not sure what year you have but my 08, it was installed in about 10 minutes, just 6 bolts and torqued them to 70 foot pounds as specified by the directions. I do hear that wiring harness is available only through the dealer, that is my next step. There is a harness that goes in the passeneger side kick panel and then one adapter that goes to the connections on the left rear frame. I do not recall what class hitch I have, but my limit is 5000 pounds, and it was the only rating available, which is more than I ever plan to pull with it. I bought it mainly for a 4-bike rack. I installed it by laying under the truck and would use my knee to hold one end of the hitch up while I bolted up the other side with my hands.

That's great. Thanks for the info. I did read about the relay that can only be purchased at the dealer but like you, I need the hitch for a bike rack and an extender for my kayak so, I'm not worried about the electrical end of it. Thanks again.

I've been thinking of putting on a receiver & hitch on my '08 Frontier. Any recommendations for receivers/hitches? Also, electrically, I take it there's not a plug/adapter already hooked up that you could just plug into? What's involved in wiring one myself? Thanks.

Go to your dealer.
