Will my '06 Nismo cc be able to tow this beast?  The car weighs right at 4,000 lbs.  The truck is rated around 6,000 lbs.  How much would a trailer weigh?

I looked at U-Haul's website, and the site told me that my truck cannot pull this car.  Does a trailer really weigh more than 2,000 lbs?

What gives?

Please help.

Well...i don't know what U-Haul's site says, but they tend to be very cautious on their towing policies apparently, obviously for liability reasons, they wouldn't rent us a trailer to tow with an explorer awhile back because of high rollover rates of those vehicles. again understandable......I can tell you that my brother had an 05 King Cab 4x2 and has a 1000 lb trailer and towed his jeep cherokee off road rig with ease with this setup... however cherokees are a little over 3000 stock curb weight, but he has his loaded with stuff and tools and his 33's as well...so it'd probably be pretty close to 4000 lbs i'm guessing

Hm....interesting.

I have to tow this car from CA to AZ (500-600 mi).

There is a portion on I-10 where it is uphill for about 11 miles and a sign that says "turn off AC to avoid overheating."  That is really the only part of the trip that worries me lol.

..

slow_evo;

...If your truck has an automatic transmission it would be smart to install an add on cooler whether you pull the trailer or not.

... The life of the transmission relies on the life of the oil and the additives in the oil. The oil cooling cores in the radiators of modern vehicles that are operating at temperatures over two hundred degrees and are being taxed to handle the added heat of the transmission. And the oil is going back into the transmission too hot.
... Add on coolers should be used as pre-coolers
in series with the cooling core in the radiator because cold oil does not work well in the transmission. The job of the add on cooler is to help dissipate heat but why put this additional heat in front of the radiator and the air conditioning condenser

First look for a mounting place away from the exhaust system, there are places under the bed. The cooler will dissipate a lot of heat even without much air flow because the oil will be VERY hot when the transmission is under a load. On top of many front skid plates are good mounting spots. Mount the cooler in the hot out-put line between the transmission and radiator and it and it will be a pre-cooler. I used a clear piece of hose connected to the in and out cooling lines to find out which was which. After connecting the clear hose have someone start the engine while you watch to see which way the bubbles flow to tell which line is which. An after cooler would cool the transmission oil better but still put too much heat into the engine and be too cool in the winter.

TIP: I have noticed many stock cooling lines need to be insulated from headers and pipes....

Have a good one and CUL.. Don S..

At home I’m the House Minority Leader

Heh, hardly...

The 'maro is a '87 305 auto, it's a freakin pig lol!  Only reason why I'm "buying" it is because it was free.  So why the hell not??  Almost perfect condition.

Is the STi yours?  And where is CA is Ken Gushi's shop?
