thats b/c paper is different from the street.
frontier's have more torque-based engines, and therefore should generally be able to produce their numbers more reliably with non-professional drivers.

I have a 2004 Frontier and a 2006 Tacoma... my Tacoma is a 6 speed and has beat every Frontier, including new, that I have raced... no comparison. I love my Frontier, but will soon replace it with another Tacoma. Frontier gets beat up as work truck, Tacoma is a toy, but the Frontier has 46,000 miles on it and tons of problems... will get another Tacoma, regretably.

try out a 2005+ frontier against your tacoma, and make sure it is also manual trans. the 2004 and below are usually pretty weak unless supercharged and upgraded on top of that. make sure you're racing someone who can drive as well, a poor driver can make a vehicle suck much more than it does. but i will agree, the new tacoma's are nice as well. Still a Nissan man myself tho.

Well both trucks are great, but me personally im a frontier fan, hence im in the frontier forums...but the tacoma is about 400 pounds lighter than the frontier, thats why its faster, put in about 400 pounds in your tacoma and then see if u can race a frontier, cause ive always wanted to do that...if you have the chance please do and let me know what happens....
Thanks!

Honestly I can't blame you pointer. I'm a avid Nissan Fan, have been since I owned my first 90' HB back in 98. But the most recent of Nissan's line has left me wary of them. Tacoma is the only small truck that I would take a chance on, though my situation has left me requiring a bigger truck. Hence why I have my 00 F-250 w/ 7.3L Powerstroke.
Though I read that Toyota is finally putting a diesel in the Tundra. Question is, is it going to be the Himo (produces their commercial) or a national company (rumor has it Toyota has been talking with CAT)
The 7.3 Powerstroke has to be all time favorite production truck diesel. A very reliable engine, that has proven itself better than the new 6.0L But if Toyota goes with a CAT, you bet your butt I'll be there trading it in.

I looked at Tacoma vs Frontier pretty closely prior to purchase. What pushed me to the Frontier V6 was the horsepower to weight ratio, Titan frame, consequent towing potential considering these. But then I looked at style, no extra money for fender flares, no extra towing package (looks like wiring and tranny coler are already there). The Tac has better approach and departure angles, but less ground clearance (go figure!). Frontier had better ride and seating comfort, and in my book better styling. My first Nissan, owned a toyota years ago; but I am always pleasantly surprised at the quality and thought that went into the Frontier package, so far so good. Have to admit though that I take good care of my vehicles, put 300,000 miles on a '93 Suzuki Sidekick, just changing fluids, timing belts, doing valve adjustments, brakes, tires and shocks - original motor, manual stick, and suspension components except shocks. Hope to get more than that out of my Frontier!
If I was looking for a 4 cylinder, the Toyota would have been in contention, but they wouldn't deal!
