I just picked up my 2007 Nissan Frontier Nismo King Cab from the dealer a couple of weeks ago and so far I am very pleased with the truck.  The truck replaces a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 160K on it.  I'm hoping this truck equals the Jeep in mileage and reliability.  I'm looking forward to these forums, and to meeting other people with Frontier's in Colorado to do some offroading with!  Just moved out to the mountains from the concrete jungle of Chicago.

Also I'm looking for some feedback on some upgrades I'm thinking of in the near future:

NISMO Air Intake - saw it installed on another Frontier and loved the simplicity and clean look.  I know it's a bit pricier than some of the other intakes... so I'm wondering if this is the best way to go?

Sliding Tonneau Cover - I'm looking for a tonneau cover that slides for the winters in Colorado.  Looking for a good brand that locks, works well, etc...  Any ideas?

For the future: 

2-3 inch lift kit?  In the future I want to make the truck look more agressive and probably go up a tire size or 2 to have even more offroad fun than the stock truck offers.  Just looking to see what's out there for options and brands.

First of all I must ask how you managed to get a Jeep over 140k? 

2nd, I had a Pace Edwards? (been so long since I owned a frontier) Roll top bed cover.  Worked great, just required a lot of maintenance.  Check out the www. button below, it takes you to my cardomain site.  Click on the Frontier (of course) 2nd page I believe has everything on the bed cover.

Down side which you will read in there is that they can dent.  Slates are only made out of Aluminum.  In my very honest opinion, it wasn't worth the price.  I loved it and everything, but you can get some 3 piece hard covers for cheaper.  And they won't dent as easily.

For an intake, I would look into Volant as well.

As far as getting the Jeep over 140K, all it took was a bit of TLC and the inline 6 cylinder of thiers.  I was always a fan of inline engines.  The only problems I had with it were the electronics were starting to get touchy, everything mechanical was still in great condition. 

Thanks for the tip about the hard cover, I was also thinking of going that route and just taking it off for the summer to haul things.  I think it gives a lot sleaker look too with the paint match, etc...

As far as wheelin in Colorado, are there maps and links to these places (i'm sure), is it pretty easy to search for offroad trails out here, or do you have to "know a guy"?

Most sporting goods places have maps for hiking and 4x4 trails. The Forest Service have maps of each of the National Forests showing all the trails. But the last five or ten years I haven’t needed to use a map…. I just look at the back of my right hand.

... Starting in 2002 we’ve been attending the Ouray Full Size Jeep Invasion at Ouray (for ifsja.com members). It’s not mandatory to attend in an FSJ so we went in the GC once, the FSJ twice and the Frontier twice. This year it’s July 11-13 2007. The old ‘76 Wagoneer 401 V-8 with 180,000 miles on it is still a great 4x4 but the Frontier is the sweetest!

The '99 V-8 Grand Cherokee is great to drive but maintaining it looks like a problem. The Quadra-Drive v-lock LSD drive system sucks. 

Remember, the over hang of the rear bumper on the Frontier is a problem on the trails. Look at the PIC of our Frontier in my post above.
