Hello. I am new to the Frontiers and let me first say that I am excited and overwhelmed by all the information on this site! I have been a Nissan fan for many years. My first was a '91 Pathfinder SE 4x4 I purchased when I first got out of high school. My main purpose in my vehicle selections is camping, and that thing took me to so many backcountry locations and on many, many adventures. Through all the hard driving I put that thing through it gave me very little problems. I regretfully sold it when I moved to Texas and bought me a '95 Nissan single cab 4x2 mainly for gas mileage purposes because I lived in the Dallas area and had about a 50 mile commute everyday for work. That truck served its purpose until I eventually moved back to Idaho and then traded it in for a '95 extended cab 4x4. (Gotta have my four wheel drive up in mountains!) Again, that truck and me went on many outdoor adventures. Then, a few months ago, I awoke one morning to the horrible sound of tires locking up and the crash of metal meeting metal outside of my house. To my dismay, the 19 year old neighbor girl had borrowed her dad's work van, drove it to the end of the street, turned around, then proceeded to crash it at about 35mph directly into the back driver's side of my poor truck!
Anyways, after a few months of battling their insurance company, I got my check and started my hunt for a new truck. I had wanted a Frontier for quite awhile but wasn't quite in the market for a brand new one. Surprisingly, a used 5speed crew cab 4x4 frontier was quite hard to come by around here. There's used Tacomas all over the f'n place, but it took me awhile to find my truck.
Now I am the proud owner of a Pewter, '01 Nissan Frontier XE, Crew cab 5 speed 4x4. I've only had it for about a week now, but I absolutely LOVE IT! Not only was I surprised by the smooth ride, but I took it on a winter camping trip this last weekend and it blew me away with its performance on snowy mountain roads. I had that baby loaded with gear, firewood, and 3 people and it still climbed muddy, washed out hills with ease. My biggest surprise was how well it handled over washboards, I rarely felt any slippage and when I did, it handled predictibly and recovered easily. So, to sum it all up, I love my new Frontier and look forward to learning more about it through these forums and to share many adventures with it!
