I have seen a lot of discussions about the various Cold Air intake systems and the fact that they might invalidate part of the trucks warranty.

I was considering the Nismo Cold Air Intake system from the dealer, and it says non the http://www.nissanusa.com/nismo/ site that the part itself does not contain a warranty. Does that mean that it also invalidates any factory warranty to the vehicle?

Also has anyone installed the factory CAI, and if would you be so kind as to post some pictures. thanks

Yes, but note that the K&N link refers only to OEM replacement filters, NOT CAI systems.

Because the CAI affects emissions controls, fuel injection, etc., the dealer can (whenever it wants) void your warranty with respect to only those things directly related to the installation of non-standard/aftermarket parts.

Now, does installation of a CAI in actuality endanger some other parts of the engine?  Not likely, but a warranty administrator can use its presence to try to void the warranty on directly related items.

The kicker is that your vehicle could then be "black balled":  a note will be appended to the factory's warranty file on your VIN, and every other dealer you go to will be aware of this information, too.  If THAT dealer, then, goes ahead and fixes something for you "under warranty," then the dealer is assuming the risk that the manufacturer will not deny the dealer's claim for warranty reimbursement.  Believe me, it happens more often than you could believe:  that's why dealerships tend to be somewhat conservative when saying what they will (and will not) cover under warranty.

"You pays your money and you takes your chances."

/s/ Ex-warranty administrator.

Supposedly Fram's new dry intake system does not effect a vehicle's warranty.  If that's the case, I would assume that AEM's system is along the same lines.
