Hey Everyone, I just got a 2019 Nissan Frontier and am looking to get something like a Dee Zee Tailgate assist, but Dee Zee doesn't seem to make one for Nissan. Does anyone (including Nissan) make a tailgate assist for the 2019 Frontier?

I searched previous topics and didn't find an answer to this. If there's a thread that already addresses this, could someone point me to it please?

So I found this Nissan part number for a tailgate assist for a Nissan Titan, 90450-EZ00A. It doesn't say it'll fit the Frontier. Does anyone have any idea if I could rig it to fix the Frontier?

Also, would I need longer bolts, or could I use what's already on my truck?

Or is there a Dee Zee Tailgate assist for another truck that could be used for the Frontier?

I may have found the solution. I searched YouTube and found a part
that might work. It’s called Sachs SG325900EZ Lift Support, and I
ordered it from autoplicity.com. It’s also on Amazon but costs a little
more there.

I’ll leave a comment here in a few days after I get it and try to install it.

.The tailgate assist should come tomorrow. It was
supposed to come 2 days ago, but UPS had issues.

Didn’t come on 9/8/20, and UPS can’t seem to find it. So I ordered it
from Walmart. Should be here by 9/15/20 (heavy sigh).

I may try to get a lowering kit for my '13 at some point.
I would really like to get something stronger than the
Cable Support's. Something like my '93 Hardbody had which
was were made out of solid steel.

Be careful and Note the clearance that your support's have
when the tailgate is fully lowered, in respect to the
clearance between the bumper and tailgate contact. On
mine it is very close. I twisted my cable in the
direction of the Cable Twist to give a little bit more
tension and more clearance.

At loooonnnnng last, my Tailgate Assist arrived. First & foremost, it is exactly the right part. In fact the instructions say "For Nissan Frontier 2006-Present". Not sure why, but every time I looked up this part it said, "This part does not fit your truck".

I got it from WalMart, but the order was filled by LiftSupportDepot.com. The part # on the Assist is GL2006. The part # I actually ordered was "Sachs SG325900EZ Lift Support". From start to finish was 20 minutes (including picture taking). You'll need a 10mm, 13mm, & 15mm socket, a phillips head screwdriver, and 2 Allen wrentches (not sure of the sizes).

It works great, but there are 2 issues: 1) it doesn't engage until you lower the tailgate a couple of inches, and 2) the driver's side safety cable on my tailgate isn't fully taut when the tailgate is down. That means the tailgate assist isn't fully taut, so the portion of the assist attached to the tailgate could potentially wrangle off. I may have to do something to prevent that. Problem #2 is an issue with my truck, not the Assist.

I did put a zip tie on the clasp that's meant to keep the tailgate assist from slipping off the bolt where it's attached to the truck frame as someone suggested. So far it works great.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about it or post another picture if you want.

Hello Clem,

I'm glad that you were able to find the Lift Lowering Kit
that fit Our Frontier's.

If it continue's to work properly and You like it, it
might be a good idea to get another one for the other side
of the TailGate, not sure if that's a good idea or
not,,but I've seen 2 on other Frontier's Tailgate's.

The Cable Slack on one side was an issue with my '13 from
Brand New. There wasn't an adjustment that I've been able
to figure out,,so I twisted the loose cable One Round in
the Direction of the Cable Spiral. But I made sure that
the cable once twisted would callapse correctly when the
Tailgate was close, so that not to get caught and cause a
Paint Chip over time.

Thank You very much for the Picture's and also where you
got it from Walmart.com. I get thing's from Walmart.com
myself when they have the lowest price. I got my Mower &
Dump trailer Tire's from Walmart.com at a much lower price
and they were 4ply instead of 2ply from original
manufacturer.

Enjoy Your New Tailgate Lowering Assist, but remember to
check the clearance when the tailgate is lowered and the
Bumper.
