I have a 2013 frontier cc that I have owned for almost
a year now. I bought it with 144,000 miles and 20
miles down the road my check engine light came on.
Almost a year later at 156,000 miles I decided to
tackle the dreaded P0448 evap code. I do have a OBD2
Blue Driver code reader but I am far from a mechanic.
I do what I can but realistically I could use all the
help I can get. So last weekend I finally pulled off
the evap canister to replace the vent valve solenoid.
In the process of trying to undo the wiring harnesses
I busted off what I later came to find out was the
fuel tank pressure solenoid. So I replaced that and
the vent valve solenoid, cleaned up the canister best
I could, and put it all back together. Cleared the
codes, went for a drive and 30 seconds later the light
came right back on. Now it's a week later and I decide
to try again and see what the issue is. Even bought a
new fuel cap and installed it because once every few
months i'd get the loose cap message. So I hooked up
my scanner again only this time I have a whole bunch
of codes! This is where my worry sets in and I need
help from you mechanics and smart people. So here is
the new list of codes that popped up all of a sudden.

P0443 - evap system purge control valve "A" circuit
P0448 - evap system vent control circuit shorted
B257F - sunload sensor short/open (driver)
B2580 - sunload sensor short/open (passenger)
P0172 - System too rich Bank 1

I know that my scanner is not a top of the line or
great one by any means and these codes can have any
number of causes to try to figure out the issue that
needs fixed. When I googled the B codes though they
came up with cam valve timing and talked about cvt
sensors or spark plugs and a few other possible
causes. So i'm not sure which way to believe on those
codes. Idk if it all stems from the evap issue and
that is causing issues elsewhere or if they are
completely unrelated. But any help and knowledge would
be very helpful. And don't be afraid to dumb it down
for me, I feel like a tard the way it is, sooo. Please
and thank you!

Greg,

If it were mine, I would make an appointment and take it
in to Nissan Service Dept.

It might be something related to what you did with your
repair or it might not be related at all.

At 105K mile's the Spark plug's are supposed to be
replaced, so it might be related to those or downstream
Sensor's or Cat converter's. All just a guess on my part.

Nissan has the Expensive obdII reader and problem solver,
which might be the Cheaper way to go in the long Run.

Once they do their Analysis, then you can do the work, let
them do the work, or take it to a different mechanic to do
the work.

Not much help on my part, but trying to do the Wrong
Repair might cost more in the Long Run. That's the way I
look at it,, when it's something that I don't have the
Tool's or Diagnostic Equipment, rather than just
Replaceing Part's and Repair's that may or may not Fix the
problem.

I also have a '13 KC, but not nearly as many mile's as you
have on your's. So far so good with mine.

Good Luck,
