High aspect ratio tires of the same type have a much better spring ratio. This is extra shock absorbing. The truck and driver don't get beat up so bad on rough roads or when hitting 'chug holes'. Therefore there is less damage to tires, wheels suspension... the whole truck and driver.
High aspect ratio tires can be 'aired down' more for better traction and easier climbing over obstacles when sand on off road trails. 15" tires often cost less than the ones of the same outside diameter for larger wheels. A 31x10.5x15 inch tire will often weigh more and have more rubber than a 31" tire for larger wheels but cost less... why is that?
I also believe the 15 ' tires are easier to break down and patch with hand tools like if you were on the trail or save money and know the job was done correctly!
Don't let me spoil your fun... some folks are spending $2000.00 installing those goofy looking wheels.
The old fart with old ideas.. Don S..
BTW.. My '34 Plymouth came with 17'' wheels.
