I have an '01 Frontier crew cab SE V6 with auto tranny.
If I drive it around town and stop somewhere for 20-30
mins, when I re-start the engine misses badly and it has
very little power. If I let it run about 5 minutes before
I take of it is OK. A couple times it has stalled and
would not re-start until it had been sitting over an
hour. No loss of coolant has occurred and all gauges are
normal. I had it towed to the dealer once the next
morning and when they got it it ran fine and they could
not replicate the problem. They also said they could not
get any codes off the computer which I find odd since the
check engine light had come one the night before.
My brother who does not live nearby is a shade tree
mechanic thinks it is a vacuum leak. My younger sister
said she had the same issue with her '06 Marano and there
was a recall or service bulletin on some sort of vacuum
connection. Before I take it back to the dealer I'd like
some feedback. Sometimes they seem clueless.

Maybe you need to find another dealer. Possible MAFS
concern, are you using a GENUINE NISSAN OIL IMPREGNATED air
filter???? Next time the check engine lite comes on, pull
into an Autozone or similar facility, they will scan it for
free. How many miles on the truck??? Have seen issues with
the distributor on high mileage vehicles.

MAFS? I will pull in to Autozone next time for sure. It has just over 90,000 miles on it. No I do not use the Nissan air filter.

MAFS=mass air flow sensor - very sensitive to dirt if not
using a Nissan air filter.
