I'm getting ready to go back to iraq for a year.  Anyone ever stored a vehicle for that long?  Any tips?

Danny here The fuel side is simple go buy some fuel stablizer a non sythiec one at that there are some that are syntheic. Run the truck with the stablizer so it goes from the tank to the moto and the return line. The oil the best way I know is to find a parent or friend to stop by and start the truck and drive it once a month so everything gets lubed.GODBLESS YA hope its a short stay for ya over there

Danny is right.  I would go further and tell you to put a synthetic oil in, drive about 30 miles and then shut it down.   Having the vehicle driven, NOT just started and left to idle, makes a big difference.  Keeps the tires from flat spotting and keeps all the running gear lubricated.   If this can't be done, store it inside on jack stands to get weight off of the tires.

God bless you and thank you for your service! Be safe over there.

Another good one is to disconnect the battery, I don't know how many times I've had to go help jumpstart vehicles from guys coming back.  The jackstands is an excellent idea if you can't get someone to drive it for you.  But i know most bases frown on that as it will ruin their parking lot.  If possible get the stands with flat bottoms instead of 4 points.

A good quality car cover wouldn't be a bad idea.
