I have an '05 V-6, can anyone tell me where the thermostat is located?  Please don't tell me that, like the spark plugs, they can onlly be replaced by the dealer.  I hate paying those guys for doing work that you can usually do yourself on other cars.

who told you that only a dealer could replace spark plugs?  The stealership?  ROFL.  And let me guess, the words "if not, it'll void your warranty" were used.

Heck I could replace them for you, and Nissan would just have to eat it and honor it.  Only because I'm ASE certified... boy dealerships make me  sometimes.

The thermostat housing is supposedly on the driver's side of the motor.  So when standing in front of it it'll be to your right.  According to information I got, it's connected to the lower radiator hose.  So if you follow the hose on the bottom of the radiator, it'll lead right into the thermostat.

Now I'm not going to say how perfect the info is, as I found a little confusing.  They're giving removal info for a v6, yet the picture supplied looked like a I4...

Or you can go down to a local parts store and pickup a Haynes or Chiltons Repair manual, it should list everything in there.

Hotajax, just like kcidmil stated, the thermostat is located at the lower rad hose. The thermostat and housing are one unit. I would highly suggest a genuine Nissan thermostat. Yes, you can replace, the problem is bleeding the air from the system. At the dealership we have a tool that draws a vacuum on the system(just like A/C) in order to draw coolant back in to the system. On some of the older models there is a bleeder screw which allowed for getting the air out of the system. Haven't had the oportunity to verify if the 4.0 has this bleeder.
