I am glad to find this forum. Since last April I have had a 2008 Frontier. Its a great truck. The one I bought has a basic radio/cd. I received a Sirius radio as a gift and want to get the adaptor to eliminate any static. It has to be plugged into the back of the radio, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to access the radio in the 2008 frontier. It looks like the panel over the radio would come up. Is this something that should be easy to get to? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

That whole piece surrounding the radio/heater assy. pulls out. Start at the bottom, then the top. One note of caution, do not unplug the air bag indicator light and then turn ign on, you will set an air bag code and cause the warning lite to flash. Leave that lite plugged in if you can while doing your process, just in case you turn the ign on.

One thing to add to the above post.  Before you pull the trim piece off, you need to lift the small tray above the radio and remove the screw.  The tray pops straight up and you'll see the screw below it.  On mine the radio had a different connector so you may need an adapter to use your satellite radio.  Good luck.

sailor-lou, thank you for pointing that out about the screw under the trim piece. It was late the other night when I ran out to check mine to verify, the bottom popped right out and the top appeared to, but I didn't go any further. I "ASSUMED". Again, thank you, hope I didn't cause any damage for someome.

These seem to be the instructions that I found as well that were located in the shop manual.  However, I bought my after-market radio from a well known east coast company that gives you step-by-step instructions on how do the entire installation.  The instructions from the radio company were crystal clear, and they had me remove the panel in the dash over the radio first and then work downward.

Basically, the job is disgustingly easy, hard to believe.  I had my old radio out in 15 minutes or so.  A few cautions, however.  Don't do the job while it is so freezing cold in the Northeast, the plastic is very brittle in the cold and may break.  Secondly, if you buy a radio from the company I mentioned above (you can PM me if you want me to tell you the name of the company), they will send you an installation/trim kit included in the price, and you will also need a TORX driver, size 15.  Thirdly, do the job while thier technical advice desk is open, because their instructions do not tell you what to do with some of the wires that don't match the wiring harness adopter they send you.  Fourth, consider soldering all connections when you match the wiring harness adopter with the wires that plug into the radio.

The bottom line - it's worth it to get rid of the factory-installed radio.  That thing is a piece of junk accoustically.  I'm hearing music on my CD's that I never heard before, and the stereo separation is really awesome.  The new radio is so much better, and I didn't spend much $$ on it.  It fit right in using the installation kit they provided, and it looks like a really professional job.   Next, I'm going to get rid of those paper plates in the doors that Nissan tells you are speakers.   PM me if you have any questions.  Hope this helps.

Those are the instructions that I found, as well, in the shop manual.  However, the instructions that came with the radio had me remove the small panel located in the dash above the radio, and work downward.  It was pretty simple, had the old radio out in 15 minutes or so.

A few cautions - don't do the job while it is so freezing cold in the northeast US - that plastic gets brittle and could break.  Also, you may need a TORX driver to do the install if you use the install kit that came with the radio.

The old radio is garbage, the new one is so much better sound wise, and I didn't spend much $$ for it.  Was well worth the trouble to put in a new one.  PM me with any questions
